A bicycle control apparatus for controlling a bicycle having a crank, an electric motor for riding assistance, and a transmission in which a first rotational force of the crank and a second rotational force of an electric riding assistance motor for riding assistance are transmitted to a rear sprocket, the bicycle control apparatus comprising:
a rotational force detector configured to detect the first rotational force imparted to the crank; and a controller programmed to
reduce the second rotational force of the electric riding assistance motor to actuate the transmission of the bicycle in accordance with the first rotational force detected by the rotational force detector,control the second rotational force outputted by the electric riding assistance motor so that a combined rotational force imparted to the rear sprocket is equal to or less than a prescribed value, the combined rotational force being a sum of the first rotational force and the second rotational force,set the prescribed value in relation to a maximum value at which transmission can shift gears, where the transmission is provided to the rear sprocket of the bicycle. |
