Header for implantable pulse generator and method of making same

A header for use in implantable pulse generator devices. The header is part of electrical connector assembly having one or more openings designed to receive the terminal pin of an electrical lead wire or electrode. The header is designed to provide and sustain long-term electrical and mechanical lead wire connections between the electrodes of a terminal pin and the implantable pulse generator device.

1. An implantable pulse generator header comprising a spring contact ring including:
a. an outer housing comprising an outer wall and an inner wall surrounding a bore having a longitudinal axis; and b. extending into the bore from the inner wall, a spring contact member comprising a plurality of circumferential spaced, arcuate, separated, spring finger strips each joined at a first end to an annular base of a first diameter and spiraling inwardly and at an oblique angle toward the longitudinal axis in a vertical fashion such that free ends of the plurality of spring fingers define a circular pattern of a lesser diameter than the first diameter, said free ends terminating in an electrical contact zone which is biased toward the longitudinal axis of the bore and said spring finger strips being free to flex within the bore in an area between the longitudinal axis of the bore and the inner wall of the outer housing.
