PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black composition having excellent light-shielding property and stability and capable of imparting a hue with excellent appearance when used for a display device, and a high-quality black coating film suitable for decorating a touch panel by using the above black composition.SOLUTION: The black composition comprises carbon black (A), at least two types of organic pigments (B), a dye derivative (C) represented by a formula that comprises derivatives from triazine and amine and an organic dye residue, and a binder resin (D). The binder resin (D) contains a resin (D1) that has 5 wt.% or more of structural units containing a benzene ring based on the total of all structural units in the resin (D1), by 50 wt.% or more in the whole binder resin (D). When the black composition is formed into a coating film having a film thickness of 1.0μm, the coating film has a maximum light transmittance of 10% or less at a wavelength from 400 to 700 nm and less than 3% standard deviation of the light transmittance at a wavelength from 400 to 700 nm.
