PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a difference data generation apparatus configured to reduce the size of difference data.SOLUTION: A bit-byte conversion section 11 converts each of new and old variable-length bit data managed by a prescribed unit so as to represent 1 bit as 1 byte. A binary difference data generation section 2 generates difference data of the new and old byte-unit data converted by the bit-byte conversion section 11. A difference data output section 3 stores the difference data generated in the binary difference data generation section 2, as difference data 8, on storage means 9.
