摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient ethanol dehydration process maintaining a high ethanol conversion rate and furthermore having increased C2-selectivity.SOLUTION: A process for the dehydration of an alcohol on an acidic catalyst is provided that comprises: (a) introducing into a reactor a stream (A) comprising one kind of alcohol, water as an optional ingredient and an inert component as an optional ingredient; (b) contacting the stream with an acid catalyst in the reactor; (c) recovering from the reactor a stream (B) comprising a stream comprising at least one kind of olefin and unconverted alcohol; (d) fractionating the stream (B) to recover the unconverted alcohol and recycling the unconverted alcohol to the reactor of step (a) ; (e) fractionating the stream (B) to recover the inert component, water and olefin and recycling the recovered inert component, water and olefin to the reactor of step (a); (f) introducing a part of an active site of a neutralizable catalyst into the stream (A) or directly introducing into a dehydration reactor; and (g) optionally adjusting temperature of the dehydration reactor for increasing alcohol conversion rate or olefin yield or both of them.
