PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide assays and in vitro methods for predicting a risk of a subject for contracting diabetes.SOLUTION: An assay for a determination of a copeptin level in a sample has a maximum 20% CV at a concentration below 2.2 pmol/L and a lower than 20% CV at normal range-concentration above the concentration, and/or a maximum 10% CV at a concentration below 9 pmol/l and a lower than 10% CV at normal range-concentration above the concentration. The assay comprises two anti-copeptin antibodies, in which at least one of the antibodies is a monoclonal antibody or fragment or recombinant variant thereof.
