Disclosed are a mobile terminal which can be operated based on voice command, and a controlling method thereof. To this end, the mobile terminal comprises: a wireless communication unit performing wireless communication; a microphone receiving sound; a touch screen receiving touch input from a user; and a control unit controlling that the microphone is activated while touching the touch screen if a pointer is touched on the touch screen, decides a target which a first user voice inputted through the microphone indicates, and controlling that the target is treated on an application if the pointer is released from the touch screen or dragged along a first direction.
