<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission system with increased reliability.SOLUTION: A data communication system 10 includes: a first serial port (I/O port 34) communicatively coupled to a first serial link, and receiving a first transmission signal from the first serial link; and a second serial port (I/O port 36) communicatively coupled to a second serial link, and receiving a second transmission signal from the second serial link. The first serial link and the second serial link are disposed in parallel with each other and communicate over a first single conduit 38, and the first communication signal and the second communication signal are representative of the identical information. The system further includes circuitry that detects a fault in the serial links by comparing the first and second communication signals, and if a fault is detected, determines whether the transmission system can continue operation despite the fault.</p> |
