PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a general-purpose engine control device capable of dealing with a general-purpose engine having an autochoke function whether the general-purpose engine has a manual chock function.SOLUTION: A general-purpose engine control device comprises: a choke valve opening/closing mechanism opening or closing a choke valve; an opening adjustment mechanism that includes an adjustment member adjusting the opening of the choke valve opened or closed by the choke valve opening/closing mechanism, and a heater that can heat the choke valve; and a heater connection terminal that can connect a heater to a power supply circuit. The general-purpose engine control device determines whether the heater is connected to the heater connection terminal (S14), controls the choke valve opening/closing mechanism to operate to open or close the choke valve on the basis of a detected temperature of a general-purpose engine if determining that the heater is connected to the heater connection terminal, and urges a user to manually open or close the choke valve via a manual opening/closing mechanism if not determining that the heater is connected to the heater connection terminal (S14, S16, S18). |
