PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for encoding and decoding performed in operating modes of coding tools changed according to the size of coding units with a hierarchical structure.SOLUTION: A video encoding method includes: splitting a current picture into at least one maximum coding unit, which is a coding unit of the maximum size; determining a coded depth by encoding in an operating mode according to a coding tool according to a coding unit according to a depth, on the basis of a correspondence among operating modes according to coding tools at a depth of at least one coding unit of the maximum coding unit, for each maximum coding unit; and outputting a bitstream including video data encoded according to coding units of the coded depth, coding information, and information regarding the correspondence among operating modes according to coding tools at a depth of the coding unit. |
