PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To early attenuate oscillation of a hood which is generated at the time of pushing-up of the hood.SOLUTION: In a vehicular pop-up hood device, a piston rod 70 can be elevated to a holding position on a vehicle upper side with respect to a lock position. Further, the piston rod 70, which is elevated to the holding position, is temporarily held by a lock mechanism 80 (see Fig. 1(B)). During oscillation of a hood generated after pushing-up of the hood by an actuator 50, when a vehicle width direction center part of the hood is shifted from a top dead point to a vehicle lower side and reaches a bottom dead point or near the bottom dead point, a temporary holding state of the piston rod 70 by the lock mechanism 80 is released, whereby both ends of the hood in a vehicle width direction are shifted to the lock position (see Fig. 1(C)). Thus, at the time when an oscillation velocity of the hood becomes about zero, a strain of the hood is released, whereby the hood is placed in a generally horizontal state. As a result, an amplitude of the hood at the lock position is reduced, and consequently, oscillation generated in the hood can be early attenuated. |
