PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a delayed release formulation for a drug to be delivered to the colon.SOLUTION: A delayed release coating comprising a mixture of a first material, which is selected from starch, amylose, amylopectin, chitosan, chondroitin sulfate, cyclodextrin, dextran, pullulan, carrageenan, scleroglucan, chitin, curdlan and levan, and a second material, which has a pH threshold at or above about pH 5, is used to target the release of a drug from a core to the intestine, particularly the colon. |
