PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize improvement of vibration detection accuracy during washing operation.SOLUTION: A washing machine includes: a drum 11; a water tub 13 for including the drum and storing washing water; a motor 12 for rotationally driving the drum; a housing 10 for accommodating the water tub; a vibration detection device 17 which detects vibration of a plurality of directions of the water tub 13 and which is constituted of a digital output type acceleration sensor capable of switching a plurality of acceleration detection ranges; and control means 20 for controlling the motor and the vibration detection device on the basis of the output of the vibration detection device 17. By switching the acceleration detection ranges for each direction or for all the directions according to the detected acceleration, the vibration detection is performed in a further accurate state by using the detection range of high sensitivity.
