The stator (300) has teeth (302) distributed circumferentially around an annular wall that extends radial inwardly from the stator. Slots (308) are defined by two radial facing surfaces of the teeth that are formed adjacent to flanges (305). Recesses (321) are formed in external periphery of the annular wall for passage of mounting screws. A smallest distance between a bottom part of the recesses and a bottom part of the slots is two times smaller than a thickness of the teeth, where a ratio of the distance and the thickness exhibits a variation of about greater or lesser than 10 percent. An independent claim is also included for a rotating electrical machine.
