The invention provides a pressure type cooker capable of suppressing viscidity on a surface of rice so as to further enhance rice taste; the pressure type cooker comprises the following structures: a pressure valve used for opening/closing a steam discharge hole connecting a pot inner side with a cover body inner side; a pressure valve opening/closing mechanism used for adjusting the pressure in the pot through switching opening/closing states of the steam discharge hole of the pressure valve; a control portion controlling a heating device and the pressure opening/closing mechanism so as to carry out a cooking step having a boiling maintaining step. The control portion controls the pressure valve opening/closing mechanism to respectively switch the steam discharge hole from a closed state to an opening state at least for one time in a front half later half of the boiling maintaining step, so when compared with the front half of the boiling maintaining step, the closing state of steam discharge hole is longer than the opening state before the opening state of the steam discharge hole in the later half of the boiling maintaining step. |
