The purpose of the present invention is to precisely quantify in a simple fashion a texture such as metallic appearance or pearly sparkle, and to streamline comparative testing of a test object and a reference object. This coloration testing device (1) is provided with: a camera (2) having three spectral sensitivities (S1(λ), S2(λ), S3(λ)) having undergone linear transformation equivalent to a CIE XYZ color-matching function; a computation processing device (3) for acquiring and computing coloration data obtained by transforming an image acquired by the camera (2), the image having three spectral sensitivities, to X, Y, and Z tristimulus values in the CIE XYZ color system; and an illumination unit (6) for irradiating an automobile (5), as an example of an object being measured. Color is tested by computing a color distribution consistency index indicating the proportion of overlap of two xyz chromaticity histogram distributions of a test object (Q) and a reference object (R). |
