PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a high quality rod lens, excellent in cost efficiency.SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a rod lens comprises: a) preparing at least one raw vitreous body to form the rod lens, b) preparing a die receiving and supporting the raw vitreous body so that a portion of the raw vitreous body to define the lens part is projected from the die, c) melting the raw vitreous body at a temperature at which the portion of the raw vitreous body projected from the die is deformed into a dome shape having a spherical or nearly spherical surface in air or gas; d) cooling the rod lens manufactured in this manner; and e) taking out the rod lens from the die. |
