PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber and an optical cable having good rupture characteristics and excellent optical characteristics.SOLUTION: Optical fibers B1 and B2 each comprise: a glass part 18 which includes a core 11 and a clad 12 surrounding the core 11; and a resin part 19 which includes a non-releasable resin layer 13 covering the surface of the glass part 18 and containing an ultraviolet curable resin, and a buffer layer 16 covering the non-releasable resin layer 13 and containing an ultraviolet curable resin. The core 11 has a diameter of 20-80 μm, and the non-releasable resin layer 13 has an outer diameter of 120-127 μm. When flexural rigidity of the glass part 18 is denoted by EI(g) and the flexural rigidity of the resin part 19 is denoted by EI(r), EI(g)≥EI(r) is satisfied. |
