The invention relates to a method and device for neuromuscular stimulation of one or more muscles, or muscle groups, with one or more beneficial effects selected from increasing arterial, venous and capillary blood flow, increasing flux of interstitial fluid and lymphatic drainage, increasing tissue oxygenation, enhancing heat distribution, enhancing the distribution of pharmaceutical products, and enhancing performance and recovery from exertion in horses.

A device for improving blood and lymphatic circulation in the limb or the soft tissues in or around the axial skeleton of a non-human mammal, comprising positive and negative electrodes for administering an electrical stimulus to the limb or axial skeletal muscles of a non-human mammal; a power supply connected to the electrodes; and control means for activating the electrodes; wherein the device comprises a flexible substrate on which are mounted the electrodes, the power supply, and the control means; and wherein each electrode comprises a flexible member having engagement means which when in use engages and grips the hair and skin of a non-human mammal, such that electrical contact between the electrodes and skin of the non-human mammal is achieved.
