PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus, an imaging method, and a program which allow for easy changing of the display position and parameters of an expanded image including a focal position.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises: an imaging device 203 which generates image data of a subject image via an optical system 301; a display 211 which displays an image corresponding to the image data generated by the imaging device 203; a touch panel 212 for designating a partial area of the image displayed by the display 211; a trimming unit 214d which generates a trimming image by cutting out an area including a touch position on the touch panel 212 from the image, on the basis of a positional signal outputted by the touch panel 212; and a display controller 214g which superimposes the trimming image generated by the trimming unit 214 on the image to display on the display 211 and controls the display mode of the trimming image in accordance with change in the positional signal outputted by the touch panel 212.
