PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent material that emits bluish green light, has high external quantum efficiency, and causes little deterioration in fluorescence characteristics at high temperature; and a light-emitting device using the fluorescent material.SOLUTION: A fluorescent material is represented by general formula BaSiON:Eu, where a is from 0.90 to 1.15 inclusive, b is from 2.00 to 2.40 inclusive, c is from 1.80 to 2.70 inclusive, d is from 1.85 to 2.15 inclusive, and e is from 0.01 to 0.03 inclusive. A light-emitting device has the fluorescent material and light-emitting elements. Preferably, the content of the fluorescent material is 20 mass% or less of all fluorescent materials in the light-emitting device. |
