A method for evaluating the resistance of tobacco to Erysiphe cichoracearum by using, as an indicator of said resistance, (i) the occurrence of a first mutation in a base corresponding to positions 3023 and 3024 of a first gene comprising a base sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 3, and (ii) the occurrence of a second mutation in a base corresponding to positions 2981 and 2982 of a second gene comprising a base sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 4, in the genome DNA of the tobacco; and the use of this method.
