PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel simple effective insect trap for small biting insects, and a purpose-made chemical heat pad which generates moisture in addition to heat.SOLUTION: The insect trap comprises: a housing receiving a base 22 and a cover 24; a pad that generates an infrared heat source and can also generate water vapor; and an insect retention surface 18. The cover is positioned over the base so as to define an opening around a base/cover interface. The opening has a depth of less than 1.5 cm and is sized and positioned such that at least one attractant signal is directed out of the opening in a manner allowing effective operation for at least 8 hours. |
