An electrical insulator for an electrical apparatus, said insulator comprising a body containing an electrical insulating, solid polymeric material and non-solid inclusions dispersed within the body, wherein at least a portion of the inclusions comprise at least one organofluorine compound having a lower Global Warming Potential than SF6, characterized in that the inclusions are in the form of bubbles spontaneously formed during processing of the polymeric or prepolymeric mass on which the polymeric material is based, in that the body has a density higher than 150 kg/m3 and in that the at least one organofluorine compound is selected from the group consisting of: fluoroethers, fluoroketones, fluoroolefins, and mixtures thereof, and the inclusions having a Global Warming Potential of less than 3'000.
