The present specification relates to a head mounted display device, and more specifically, relates to a subminiature head mounted display device which can be attachable and detachable in glasses, and a controlling method thereof. The detachable head mounted display (HMD) device according to an embodiment comprises: a display unit to display visual information; a mounting sensor unit to detect whether the HMD is mounted on glasses; a sensor unit to detect an input signal generated when the glasses with the HMD attached get touched; and a controller to control the display unit, the mounting sensor unit, and the sensor unit. The controller obtains identification information of the glasses and a look-up table related to the identification information, receives the input signal detected by the sensor unit, obtains a control input related to the input signal from the look-up table, and executes a function corresponding to the control input when the controller detects that the HMD is mounted on the glasses. |
