Scheduling decisions between a first base station and a second base station are coordinated with respect to using subframes overlapping almost blank subframes for transmission, wherein the almost blank subframes include mandatory almost blank subframes which are predefined and are not to be used by the first base station and may be used by the second base station for transmission, and optional almost blank subframes which may be used by the first base station and the second base station. The almost blank subframes may be used for transmission according to the coordinated scheduling, and the transmission may be received by a user equipment.

a memory storing a program; a processor, the memory and the program configured, with the processor, to cause the apparatus to perform at least the following: coordinate scheduling decisions between at least a first base station and at least a second base station with respect to using subframes overlapping almost blank subframes for transmission, wherein the almost blank subframes comprise mandatory almost blank subframes which are predefined and are not to be used by the at least first base station and may be used by the at least second base station for transmission, and optional almost blank subframes which may be used by the at least first base station and the at least second base station.
