A tensioning device for a chain transmission for movement transfer between a driver device and a slide (7) to be driven by a drive chain (18) along a linear guide (6) of a rock drill rig. The tensioning device includes a first fastening member (24) for fastening a first end of the drive chain on the slide (7) and a second fastening member (25) for fastening a second end of the drive chain on a tensioning head (26) which is arranged displaceable in a tension direction (S) of the drive chain (18) on the slide (7). A spring device (27) is arranged between the tensioning head (26) and the slide (7) for spring loading the tensioning head in the tension direction (S), and at least one of said first (24) and second (25) fastening members includes adjustment means (28) for adjusting tension in the drive chain (18). The invention also concerns a method, a handling device and a rock drill rig.
