The method also includes creating a contour map from the depth and position measurements, creating a polygon on the contour map, and analyzing at least one of the depth and position measurements within the polygon.

piloting a first watercraft on a water body, the first watercraft including a first monitoring system; taking a first plurality of measurements of a depth of the water body using the first monitoring system; taking a second plurality of measurements of a position of the first watercraft using the first monitoring system; aligning the first plurality of measurements with the second plurality of measurements; creating a contour map from the first plurality of measurements and the second plurality of measurements; creating a polygon on the contour map; and analyzing at least one of the first plurality of measurements and the second plurality of measurements within the polygon.
