PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particulate matter detection element 10 configured to detect electrical characteristics which change depending on the amount of particulate matters accumulated between a pair of electrodes 11, 12, to detect the amount of particulate matters included in a measured gas, a manufacturing method thereof, and a particulate matter detection sensor 1 with improved reliability.SOLUTION: The particulate matter detection element 10 is formed in a laminate structure by laminating conductor layers 11, 12 and an insulation layer 100 alternately, and includes a detection section 13 formed by a cross section. Cross-sectional circular-arc conductor layer edge sections 111, 121 having a tapered cross-sectional triangular shape or a gradually curved shape are formed on both sides of conductor layer plane sections 110, 120, to prevent an electric field from being concentrated on the vicinity of the edges of the conductor layers 11, 12. |
