PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of suppressing heating of a shield member.SOLUTION: A fixing device includes: a rotatable endless fixing belt 21; a heat source 23 that heats the fixing belt 21; a nip forming member 24 disposed on the inner peripheral side of the fixing belt 21; an opposing member 22 that comes into contact with the nip forming member 24 from the outer peripheral side of the fixing belt 21 to form a nip part N with the fixing belt 21; and a shield member 27 that shields heat from the heat source 23. The shield member 27 is disposed to surround the heat source 23 and formed over the entire width direction of a recording medium passing area in a circumferential direction with ends on both sides, and is configured to be movable between a shield position where at least a part of the shield member 27 faces directly to the heat source 23 to shield the heat, and a retreat position where the portion facing directly to the heat source 23 is retreated from the shield position and heating suppression members 25 and 26 are disposed to be interposed between the heat source 23 and the shield member 27.
