PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device capable of performing still image photography with high focusing accuracy while maintaining the fidelity of continuous AF.SOLUTION: An imaging device includes: an imaging element for photoelectrically converting an optical image; first focus detection means for performing focus detection by a phase difference system on the basis of an image signal obtained from the focus detection pixel of the imaging element; second focus detection means for performing focus detection by a contrast system; and control means for performing focus adjustment by selecting either the first focus detection means or the second focus detection means. The control means performs the focus adjustment by using the first focus detection means in a first mode of driving a lens while continuously performing the focus adjustment, and performs the focus adjustment by using the first focus detection means or the second focus detection means selected in accordance with lens information in a second mode of stopping the lens at a focusing position after the focus adjustment.
