<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixation device and a fixation method which prevent, regardless of thickness of a recording medium, separation defects and conveyance defects when the recording medium winding around a fixation roller is separated from the fixation roller to suppress the generation of jam.SOLUTION: A fixation device includes: a fixation roller 146 for fixing a toner image formed on a conveyed recording medium P onto the recording medium P; a separation member 150 provided downstream of the fixation roller 146 in a conveyance route Rof the recording medium P, and for separating from the fixation roller 146 the recording medium P winding around the fixation roller 146 due to fixation by contacting with a tip LE of the recording medium P in the conveyance direction; and a retreat mechanism 160 for moving the separation member 150 to a retreat position which does not interfere with the conveyance of the recording medium P immediately after the tip LE of the recording medium P in the conveyance direction is separated from the fixation roller 146.</p> |
