The present invention provides a multilayer ceramic capacitor and a substrate for mounting the same which comprise: a ceramic body which is laminated with a plurality of dielectric layers; an active layer which comprises a plurality of a first and a second internal electrode to be alternatively exposed through both sections of the ceramic with the dielectric layer therebetween; upper and lower cover layers which are formed on upper and lower sides of the active layer; and a first and a second external electrode to cover, respectively, both sections of the active layer, where 1.826<=C/M<=4.686, and 0.2142<=Aa/Ac<=0.4911 when setting the thickness of the upper or lower cover layers to C, the margin in the width direction of the active layer to M, the sectional area in the width-thickness direction of the ceramic body to Ac, and the sectional area in the width-thickness direction of a part in which the first and the second internal electrodes are overlapped in the thickness direction in the active layer.
