A cooking shield or splash guard comprises an elongate flexible sheet 1 which is deformed or curved into an arc shape so that it stands on a hob or cooking surface 20 along a longitudinal edge of the sheet (6A, 6B, Fig. 2A), surrounding a pan 16 so that the sheet extends above the open end of the pan 16. The sheet 1 may have parallel spaced lines of weakness 2 extending across the width of the sheet to enable the sheet to be broken, and the sheet may comprise spaced holes (5, Fig. 2A) close to one longitudinal edge (6A, Fig. 2A). The sheet 1 may be made of paper, and multiple shields may be supplied on a roll (22, Fig. 3), with individual shields detachable from the roll along a line of weakness 2. The shield is particularly suitable for containing spitting from an open pan. A shield formed from a resilient sheet that is unrolled to close around the pan 16 is also claimed. |
