<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining whether or not a plant individual of rice cultivar has hybrid weakness through the use of the weakness caused by hbd2 gene and hbd3 gene. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to: a method of determining whether or not the plant of rice cultivar has hybrid weakness which includes a step of examining a base sequence of CKI1 (casein kinase I) gene in the genome of a plant cell; a method of producing a weak hybrid plant by introducing an expressing vector wherein a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence represented by sequence number 1 can be expressed and transforming thereof; and a method of selecting a master individual for breeding rice. The method for selecting the master individual is based on, at least, the result of determining either: (a) the base sequence of the CKI1 gene in the genome of a candidate plant individual; or (b) whether the candidate plant individual is hbd3 homozygote, Hbd3/hbd3 heterozygote, or Hbd3 homozygote. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
