The invention pertains to a display system comprising: a display device having an active display area, an image forming device 5, and an electronic driving system 4 for driving the image forming device; a light source 10 to illuminate a representative part of the display device; and an optical sensor unit comprising an optical aperture and at least one photo-sensor 11, arranged to make optical measurements from the light reflected by said representative part generate optical measurement signals therefrom. The light source and the light sensor unit are on one side of the display device and are permanently integrated with the display device. The invention also pertains to a method of producing such a display system, and a display device having a flexible second substrate. The representative part may be located on a different side of the display device to the display area. The optical measurements may be used to determine correction factors to be applied to image signals, possibly to calibrate the display. |
