<p>F ragmentation casing s for warheads are creat ed by sintering powder metal having separately produced fragmentation bodies 5 embedded therein. T he moulded part in which the fragmentation bodies are embedded is produced by means of a two-stage powder compaction method followed by sinterin g. I n an initial stage (figure 2) the f ragmentation bodies 5 are located in cavities 4 in the surface of a fixture 2 after which the said bodies are covered with powder metal 8 that is then compacted until the powder forms a single moulded part 9. The part 9 is then removed, inverted and covered with a second layer 12 of powdered metal which is compacte d in a second device.</p> |
