<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize interlace release in which objective restoration performance is high, by rasing sureness in diagonal line determination to well restore a diagonal line part.SOLUTION: A diagonal line determination part sets a local circulation part comprising a plurality of pixels in upper and lower scan lines of an interpolation object pixel x, and calculates a total sum of differences between pixel values of two pixels in vertical direction while rotating one pixel by one pixel leftwise and rightwise respectively. An optimum rotation amount of a minimum total sum is obtained, and when a condition such as a difference between left and right optimum rotation amounts is a predetermined threshold value or larger is met, it is determined that there exists a diagonal line or a diagonal edge, and an inverse number of the optimum rotation amount is taken as extention direction of the diagonal line. If it is determined that there is no diagonal line, an interpolation value is obtained by a sample value Hlinear filter by using upper and lower pixels of the interpolation object pixel. If it is determined there is a diagonal line, an interpolation value is obtained by a simple linear interpolation in the extention direction of the diagonal line. Thus, since only a diagonal line of high sureness is extracted for interpolation in diagonal line extention direction, restoration performance is improved.</p> |
