Classes 66 and 94 (1) An open-ended container 1, for a commodity such as icecream, butter, lard or soap, has one end larger than the other, whereby a number of such containers may be telescoped end-to-end to form a tubular stack, and is provided with a draw-string cutter 5 located adjacent the larger end'so as to lie in a transverse plane close to the smaller end of an adjacent interengaging container, the draw string being in the form of a loop normally disposed to lie adjacent the inner periphery of the container and having at least one part projecting through a hole in the side o the container whereby it may be pulled to cut through the contents. The container shown has an enlarged flanged end portion 2, forming a socket for the reception of the end 4 of an adjacent con tainer, and the draw-string is located between the end 4 and the shoulder 6 and has loops 7, 8 extending through eight holes symmetrically spaced around the periphery of the container. The loops 7 protrude sufficiently to enable any one loop to be employed for pulling the string. In use, several containers are assembled, as shown, to form a tubular stack which is then closed at its lower end by a cap 9. The commodity, in the liquid or semi-liquid state, is then poured into the stack and solidified, as by refrigeration, or allowed to solidify. Individual containers are then separated from the stack by operation of the draw-strings and closed at their lower ends by the application of caps 9. Their upper ends are then sealed by discs seating on the shoulders 6. The containers may be of frustoconical or other tapering form provided with circumferential ribs serving as stops for positioning the smaller end of one container within the larger end of another so as to lie close to the draw-string. |
