A terminal comprises: a touch pad including a first and a second transparent electrode arranged by crossing each other; a first switching unit connected to the first transparent electrode; a second switching unit connected to the second transparent electrode; and a control unit controlling switching of the first and the second switching unit to inspect damage of the touch pad, and controlling a user interface (UI) screen to be displayed according to the inspection result.
