The present invention relates to method for preparing a carbide-coated diamond particle and a diamond particle prepared by the same. According to the method, the carbide-coated diamond powder particle by heating a powder mixture including diamond powder, coating elements, and an activation agent at 500-1,200°C in an inert atmosphere for 1-600 minutes and cooling the powder mixture. According to the present invention, diamond powder, coated with a carbide layer, can be obtained by a simple atmosphere heat treatment method without a special apparatus. Moreover, the carbide layer is formed on the surface of the diamond powder particle by a gas-solid phase reaction. Therefore, the carbide layer can be uniformly formed all over the diamond powder and oxygen does not exist on an interface between the carbide layer and the diamond.
