<p>The invention relates to a method for operating a frontal headlight device (2) of a vehicle (1), in which an image of an environmental region (3) in direction of travel (18) in front of the vehicle (1) is captured by means of a camera (5) of the vehicle (1) and the headlight device (2) is switched to a glare shield mode by means of an electronic control device (6) of the vehicle (1) depending on whether a light source (22) of a further vehicle (20) is identified in the image, the further vehicle (20) is detected and a relative position of the further vehicle (20) is determined in direction of travel (18) relative to the vehicle (1) based on sensor data of at least one object detection device (8 to 17) disposed on the vehicle (1), wherein switching of the headlight device (2) to the glare shield mode is also performed considering the relative position of the vehicles (1, 20) in direction of travel (18) by means of the control device (6).</p> |
