Free space directional force feedback apparatus

A directional feedback device generating a directional force feedback in free space. The device includes a force generation structure including a rotatable mass creating a physical force vector in three dimensional space. A wireless communication device and a control system communicatively coupled to the wireless communication device and the force generation system are provided. The control system receives a definition of the physical force vector to be generated from an application executing in a processing device. The control system provides instructions to the force generation system to generate the physical force vector using the force generation structure. The force generation system, the wireless communication device and the control system are enclosed in a housing.

1. A directional feedback device for generating directional force feedback in free space, comprising:
a force generation system including a torque generation structure adapted to create a physical force in three dimensional space; a wireless communication device; a control system communicatively coupled to the wireless communication device and the force generation system, the control system adapted to receive a definition of the physical force to be generated from an application in a communicatively coupled computing environment and adapted to control the force generation system to generate the physical force based on the definition of the physical force; and a housing enclosing the force generation system, the wireless communication device and the control system.
