The present invention relates to a method for transmitting and receiving a reference signal for small cell discovery. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for setting a downlink reference signal used by a terminal to search a small cell base station in a deactivated state. Particularly, the present invention provides: a method of a terminal for receiving a reference signal for small cell discovery; and an apparatus for the same. The method includes the steps of: receiving a reference signal transmitted by a base station in a deactivated state; and checking the reference signal by using transmission antenna port information and wireless resource allocation information of the reference signal.
