Disclosed in the present invention is a mobile terminal which can control photographing based on a gesture input of a user received through a camera. Specifically, the present invention relates to a mobile terminal including a control part detecting a shape of the hand of a user included in an image received through the camera by applying a shape recognition algorithm; getting into a gesture executing mode, when the hand of the user presents a first hand gesture; and performing a certain function corresponding to a second hand gesture, when the hand of the user presents the second hand gesture in the gesture executing mode.
