In an electric power steering device, upon development of reverse connection, the development of reverse connection is detected and stored, and power assist is limited when a controller is started next time. Specifically, in an ECU (14) that controls an electric motor (13) that provides a steering mechanism with steering assist torque, a microcomputer (14a) transmits a drive signal to a driver (14b) that drives, in accordance with the drive signal, an inverter (14c) that controls electric motor current. A reverse connection storage circuit (14d) is mounted in parallel with the inverter (14c). Upon development of reverse connection of the ECU (14) and a battery (15), the reverse connection storage circuit (14d) detects and stores the development of reverse connection, and notifies the microcomputer (14a) when the ECU (14) is started next time. The microcomputer (14a), in accordance with the notification, transmits a signal indicating no-permission to the driver (14b). The driver (14b), upon reception of the signal, limits power assist. |
