The present invention relates to a promoter variant including an UP element in an upstream portion of a bacillus thuringiensis (BT) Cry3Aa promoter and to a promoter variant for increasing expression of a downstream target gene. More specifically, the present invention relates to a promoter variant increasing expression of the downstream target gene by adding a nucleic acid sequence, having enough nucleotide adenine (A) and thymine (T), in an upstream area of -35 portion of a Cry3Aa promoter. An expression system according to the present invention, if used, may drastically increase the expression of target protein in a bacillus strain, thereby being effectively used in producing protein valuable in fields of industry as well as biotechnology and medical science via mass production of the protein and the target protein like a polypeptide medicine.
