Disclosed is a flexible display apparatus bent by external force, which comprises: a flexible display displaying an image; a strain gauge sensing a strain of the flexible display panel to generated a sensed signal; a strain controller outputting a strain compensation voltage according to the strain; and a strain compensation layer arranged on at least one side of the flexible display panel, wherein the thickness of the strain compensation layer is adjusted by the strain compensation voltage to position the neutral plane of the flexible display apparatus within a preset reference area in the flexible display panel.
