<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element capable of obtaining higher photoelectric conversion efficiency than a dye-sensitized solar cell formed from a conventional iodine redox-based electrolyte.SOLUTION: A photoelectric conversion element 10 is characterized in that: (1) the photoelectric conversion element includes a photoelectrode including a semiconductor layer 15 in which sensitized dyes are carried, a counter electrode 17 which is disposed so as to oppose the semiconductor layer 15, and a charge transport layer 20 that is disposed between the photoelectrode and the counter electrode, and the charge transport layer 20 contains two or more kinds of redox species having redox potentials different from each other; (2) the charge transport layer contains two or more kinds of electrolytes containing the redox species; (3) two or more kinds of halogens are contained as the two or more kinds of redox species; and (4) the electrolyte contains a redox couple containing an iodine and an iodine compound, and a redox couple containing a bromine and a bromine compound.</p> |
