PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to transmit over non-contiguous tones and provide the user with a maximum frequency diversity employing the entire available bandwidth to transmit a signal.SOLUTION: A method 500 of transmitting a signal employing a hybrid FDM-CDM structure comprises: receiving a signal to be transmitted 502; modulating the received signal by employing Chu-multiplexing or the like employing a hybrid FDM-CDM structure, thereby allowing each user to occupy the entire bandwidth available and allowing each user in a given cell to occupy non-contiguous set of tones 504; in order to perform code division multiplexing that multiplexes an FDM-CDM signal in the time domain, multiplying the FDM-CDM signal by an orthogonal sequence such as a Hadamard sequence of length 4 as a spreading sequence 506; and transmitting a signal while maintaining orthogonality of a pilot of users in different cells 508. |
